Frequently Asked Questions

In India, GST is a dual tax system. For intra-state sales (within the same state), the total GST is split equally into Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST).

Integrated GST (IGST) is levied on all inter-state supplies (between different states) of goods and services. It is equal to the total GST rate (i.e. if GST is 18%, IGST is 18%).

Use our "Remove GST (Inclusive)" tab. Enter the total bill amount and the GST rate. The calculator will reverse the math and give you the base price before tax was added.

The primary GST slabs in India are 0% (exempted), 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. There are also special rates of 0.25% on rough precious stones and 3% on gold.

When writing legal cheques or formal invoices, writing the total amount in words is legally required to prevent fraud or alteration of the numeric figures.
